Assembly stage 2: soldering and peripheral wiring
Practise tinning, heating and cleaning on a practice board. Select a suitable iron tip for the pad and wire size. Avoid prolonged heating to compensate for unsuitable tools. Provide ventilation and eye protection.
Guide notes
Practise soldering first
Practise tinning, heating and cleaning on a practice board. Select a suitable iron tip for the pad and wire size. Avoid prolonged heating to compensate for unsuitable tools. Provide ventilation and eye protection.
Follow the diagrams
Check polarity, voltage and pinouts for power, capacitor, receiver, VTX and GPS. Cross UART TX and RX and connect ground correctly. Wire colour is not a substitute for the manufacturer's pinout.
Inspect the joints
With power disconnected, check bridges, loose joints, exposed conductors and solder debris. Use a multimeter to inspect for shorts. Insulate and mechanically support the capacitor and vulnerable joints.
First power-up
Remove propellers. Check the FC on USB, then briefly power from the battery through appropriate current limiting. Check peripheral status and abnormal heat. If protection trips, disconnect and investigate before proceeding.
