Batteries: specifications, inspection and storage

Check chemistry, cell count, capacity, connectors and permitted charging conditions. LiPo and LiHV require different charge settings. Battery voltage must also match ESC and VTX input ratings.

Guide notes

Read the label

Check chemistry, cell count, capacity, connectors and permitted charging conditions. LiPo and LiHV require different charge settings. Battery voltage must also match ESC and VTX input ratings.

Inspect before use

Check swelling, damaged wrapping, cables, balance connectors and main connectors. Do not continue charging or flying a damaged or unusually hot battery. Prevent shorts and keep metal tools away from exposed terminals.

Manage the flight

Set warnings for your battery and aircraft. Consider loaded voltage, remaining energy and flight time; land with a reserve. A fixed number of minutes does not suit every battery. Disconnect after landing and let it cool.

Store and dispose correctly

Follow manufacturer storage-charge guidance and keep batteries cool, dry and away from combustible material. Use an appropriate local recycling service for damaged batteries. Do not puncture or crush them.
