Guide notes

Define your requirements

Record the location, indoor or outdoor use, filming needs, portability and total budget. Include the radio, goggles, charger, batteries, spare propellers and repair parts. Practise in a simulator before flying.

Check physical and electrical interfaces

Start with propeller clearance, FC mounting pattern and camera width. Check motor mounting, shaft size, recommended battery and propeller, ESC input voltage, BEC capacity, VTX supply and available UARTs. Use each exact model's manual.

Create a purchase checklist

Record the model, hardware revision, supply voltage, dimensions, connectors and official manual for every component. Ask the supplier about unknown specifications before buying. Similar connectors do not guarantee identical pinouts.

Prepare for assembly

Collect wiring diagrams, a multimeter, soldering equipment, insulation and suitable current limiting. Plan cables, antennas, the capacitor and battery mounting before cutting wires or choosing screws.
