Guide notes

Identify the components

The FC processes sensors and control; the ESC drives motors. AIO boards integrate several functions. Obtain the exact model, hardware revision and matching diagram. A processor family alone does not identify the firmware target.

Check power connections

Verify battery range, BEC outputs and peripheral voltage ratings. Receivers and VTX units must not automatically receive battery voltage. Check capacitor polarity and connector pinouts; flight-stack cables are not universally interchangeable.

Plan UART assignments

List the receiver, GPS and digital video system with power, TX/RX and UART assignments. Enable Serial RX only on the correct receiver UART and configure other functions according to their protocols.

Connect for the first time

Remove propellers. Use USB to check board recognition and orientation, then inspect for shorts with power disconnected. Use appropriate current limiting for first battery power. Disconnect for abnormal heat, smell or current.
