GPS and Rescue: wiring, positioning and test limits

Confirm supply voltage and TX/RX using the module manual; connect one device's TX to the other's RX. Position the antenna correctly, secure it and reduce interference from video transmitters, power wiring and carbon.

Guide notes

Wire and install the module

Confirm supply voltage and TX/RX using the module manual; connect one device's TX to the other's RX. Position the antenna correctly, secure it and reduce interference from video transmitters, power wiring and carbon.

Verify positioning data

Select the matching protocol and UART, then wait for a fix outdoors. Check coordinates, satellites, fix status and stable updates. Confirm home-point recording. Poor indoor reception alone does not prove hardware failure.

Understand Rescue

Betaflight GPS Rescue requirements vary by firmware. It does not guarantee precise landing or obstacle avoidance. Validate home position, positioning quality, rescue height and throttle settings using your firmware documentation.

Before a flight test

Confirm manual takeover and exit switches. Test only in a clear area with adequate altitude and battery. Unverified Rescue is not a guarantee for long-distance flying. Stop if positioning is unreliable or obstacles make testing unsafe.
