Propellers: direction, fit and replacement

Propeller diameter, pitch, blade count, centre bore and mounting method must match the motors and frame. A different propeller changes load and handling. Start with manufacturer recommendations.

Guide notes

Confirm the specification

Identify rotation direction

Use blade geometry and manufacturer markings to identify CW and CCW propellers. Match the FC motor layout, actual rotation and props-in or props-out configuration. Do not rely only on printed text facing upward.

Install in the correct order

Remove propellers for motor numbering, direction and failsafe tests. Disconnect the battery before installation. Check secure mounting and clearance. Never use software motor sliders with propellers fitted.

Inspect before every flight

Replace cracked, bent, chipped or impact-damaged propellers. Check fasteners, clearance and motor bells. If the aircraft flips on arming, stop immediately and check numbering, rotation, propellers and FC orientation.
