DShot and RPM are separate functions

DShot sends digital commands from the FC to the ESC; the throttle-range calibration used for PWM is unnecessary. However, ordinary DShot support alone does not establish RPM telemetry support.

Check ESC firmware first

The return channel needs compatible ESC firmware. Betaflight documentation lists Bluejay, AM32 and suitable BLHeli_32 versions. Check the exact model and installed version against manufacturer documentation; do not flash an unknown target just to obtain RPM.

Verify the return channel

Bidirectional DShot returns data over the same signal wire. Motor pole count is used to convert eRPM to RPM: it counts rotor magnets, not stator teeth. Confirm it from the motor specifications.

Check the result with propellers removed

Remove propellers before connecting the battery. With bidirectional DShot enabled and the ESC powered, check RPM and errors in Motors. USB alone may not power the ESC.

Editorial advice: save the original settings and check one item at a time. RPM data does not replace motor-order and direction checks; do not reduce filtering merely because telemetry is enabled.
